This is a review of the new JCONLY EPOCH R4 pen for which I will also express technical concepts from the construction in addition to logically the impressions of operation, so please bear with me if my speech is long enough and read carefully. I will start by saying that the pen is made in a superb construction way, with couplings between its components perfect to the tenth of a millimeter, the 2 grips supplied are very comfortable to hold, I think it is the best shape I have ever tried on a pen, both the 34 mm and the 38 mm! These grips have precise and consistent clicks and in fact it takes a bit of force to turn them and adjust the depth of the needle, this really surprised me positively, I hate pens where the grips turn softly and with little force, also the hole of the cartridge seat is made quite narrow, another thing that I think is wonderful, because guys here the cartridges once inserted are welded to the grip in an extremely rigid way creating a single body between grip and cartridge, a truly exceptional closure, they almost seem welded together and I'm not exaggerating, and I'll be repetitive in saying it, but even in this case I had never experienced a construction precision of this level that I consider to be of the highest quality, I absolutely have to compliment whoever designed this machine, truly a job above all my expectations! Let's move on to the weight which is in the average of a bit of all pens from 204 to 224 grams depending on the grip, this is a personal parameter and therefore I do not express opinions even if in my taste I prefer the weight with the combination of the larger grip! The body of the machine is 34 millimeters, which I consider an excellent size. The large display is really beautiful aesthetically with the addition of a LED light ring on which you can change the color, which in addition to making the pen personalized, I find it a very useful thing for those tattoo artists who work with multiple pens at the same time, I know many, including myself, who work with all 3 versions of the pen in their respective strokes on their workbench and being able to use different colors for the 3 versions makes it possible to recognize the stroke at a glance without having to read the number laser-printed on the top! Then, still remaining on the theme of the display, we can decide whether to have a sound at each press of a button, we have the automatic shutdown when placing the pen horizontally on the bench and consequently the start when we lift it before starting to tattoo. Anyway, here we are at the most interesting thing that the electronics of this pen offer. We have 3 selectable memories, the first at full power, the second slightly softer as a beat, suitable for shades and the use of finiliners and the third where it is possible to adjust the speed of the number of punctures per second which is expressed as a percentage. For example, I keep it fixed at 52% which makes the speed of the Hz at about 60 strokes per second, perfect for me for use in the execution of pepper shading. I dare say, these functions named M1, M2 and M3 are really comfortable and intuitive. Let's now move on to the operation of the engine and the performance of the pen. First of all you immediately feel that the engine is of excellent quality like everything else, it is strong but not aggressive, it saturates quickly but does not irritate the skin, things that allow you to work with more speed and safety! As I told you, the engine is strong and should be used at slightly lower voltages than the competition as it is also faster in terms of Hz or strokes per second depending on how you want to define them. As for the battery, I perceived a duration of around six hours of continuous work without interruptions, however I am inclined to always work quite fast and consequently I use higher voltages than other tattoo artists, so it is more than likely that it can last you much longer, in fact in the manual they declare an autonomy of 6 to 8 hours. Ok so we come to the conclusion and the final verdict, my opinion: I consider the JCONLY EPOCH R4 a mid-range pen in terms of price but high-end in terms of construction and operation. I have tried practically almost all the pens with the most famous brands on the market and this JCONLY in many situations I have found it even superior to pens that cost more than double! Is it scandalous? I don't know, perhaps it is JCONLY who has decided to create a product with all the best qualities without saving in any aspect. So I conclude by saying that the purchase is not only absolutely recommended, but I consider it practically obligatory given all the excellent qualities, some truly superlative that it manages to offer! If I were you I would buy one immediately, it is truly worth it and the price is to be considered truly low, because I repeat again and again, this pen is made in an excellent way! Period!
